Eager to escape the summer heat in Arizona, we took a road trip to Utah. Here are my top 5 favorite things about this trip and spending time in the Wasatch mountains.

Nomad Cafe in Kanab, Utah. Kanab could easily be on this list, which we LOVE Kanab, but it has a new addition to make this town even better. A diamond in the rough, this very charismatic cafe + RV Park is just outside of town. Ask if Jason the owner is there, grab a slice of quiche (from the chickens on sight) a good latte and Jason will keep you intrigued with lots of history about the area.

Wasatch Mountain Range. Even though I lived in SLC for a few years I never spent any time in the Wasatch range until this trip. After a long drive up a forest road, we had to park the van. It was getting too sketchy to keep driving so stayed the night, parked off the side of the road, by a strong running creek that was loud enough to drown out the mosquitos buzzing around.

Redmond Farm Store. Dang, if we had one of these in Phoenix they would know me by name. We had a few meals there and just enjoyed everything we had. Did some grocery shopping there as its a full market with a lot of local offerings and the very popular, RAW MILK. Yep, I am a believer now.

Redmond Salt Mine Tour. Some of the best ideas come from casual conversations with a consistent follow up! Our friends at Redmond are the perfect balance of all things awesome to make REALLY cool ideas reality. Basically, I did a photo shoot down in the salt mine with another Redmond ReLyte affiliate. We had minimal supplies, but lots of help and free range to ride ANYTHING down in the road division section of the mine. So of course the first thing we did was gap from the top of the tour bus into a make shift salt pile landing. It worked really good actually. I noticed some of the walls around us had a slight transition to them and played around with some wall rides, or SALT rides which was pretty fun. After 5 hours, it was a wrap and we all loaded up then the bus driver asked "Did you lick the walls"? I said "No" so we all got out and licked the the walls! I guess its a thing to do and safe since bacteria cant live on it for more than a few minutes. Once back to the surface we had lunch and SHOT DYNAMITE at the shooting range. It's all part of the tour. Ending with shooting a bowling ball out of a canon aimed at boats as targets.....totally normal and awesome day!

- Last but not least...visiting some old friends in Park City. It was so good to catch up and simply enjoyed everything about Park City.
